I've always wondered when Facebook was going to establish a laptop-friendly app for its messenger. Now here it is! Facebook has unveiled a new site for its Messenger app that brings the experience you know from mobile to the Web, but Facebook didn’t release an official desktop app. However, a group of developers has made a small app available that makes the Messenger site act like a desktop app on OS X. It has the look and feel of a native application and includes the expected featuress like desktop notifications so you get the full experience. The app is open source and the group isn’t affiliated with Facebook in any way, so be prepared for the occasional weird glitch. Perhaps Facebook will release its own desktop app soon, but this is a step in the right direction! #MWTG325
